About the Workshops
The BattleGround to Breaking Ground Program is hosting 2 days of workshops.
These workshops are developed for Active Duty Military, Military Veterans, their families, and the General Public.
Introduction to Agriculture Business Workshop
Workshop 1 – Friday, October 11, 2024
Our first workshop option focuses on an Introduction to Agriculture Business. We will have presentations from Farm Service Agency (FSA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), and AgriLife Extension covering their various programs that are available to help producers. They will be highlighting any of those programs that help with Climate Smart Practices. We will also have presenters covering Texas AgrAbility, the BattleGround to Breaking Ground Program, Rural Business Ideas, and basics of Agriculture Business planning.
Introduction to Hydroponics Workshop
Workshop 2 – Saturday, October 12, 2024
Our second workshop option will dive into an Introduction to Hydroponics that concentrates on:
- Understanding hydroponic concepts,
- Climate-smart practice,
- Equipment, and infrastructure,
- Managing hydroponics system components,
- Selecting and planting crops,
- Managing nutrient levels and other inputs,
- Managing pests and diseases, and
- Harvesting.
There will be an opportunity for hands-on learning in the areas of setting up a deep-water culture hydroponic system, planting, and harvesting.
